We had a small group of 5 athletes competing at Trafford on Sunday. In what was quite a warm, muggy day they all did very well. Sam produced a PB in the 75m (10.6secs) to pick up a silver medal and then went on to produce a Gold medal winning performance in the 150m. Really good sprinting with a lot more still to come! He also produced a 3.98m Long Jump which was also an official PB. Well done Sam !
Alex W & Alex B competed in the Long Jump for the first time, which was good to see, as they develop their skills in a variety of events. Alex W produced a PB in the Javelin of 27.41m to take the bronze medal with Alex B hot on his tail with a throw of 27.25m. Alex B put in a good effort of 24.05 in the Discus as well. Both have made an impressive start and it is easy to forget that they are both in the younger year of the U15 group! Over time the progress will be enormous.
There was a PB in the 800m (2.49.5mins) for Dominic, which I hope will be a platform for him to build on and he also came up with an official PB of 16.64m in the Javelin. Well done Dom!
Finally, it was good to see Harry trying out a new part of his Long Jump technique which he will learn a lot from and I liked his 600m time in what was a rough, bumpy race with a lot of runners.
Well done to everyone ! I cannot wait for the next event, to see the progress we make in technique through training, put into practice.
