Progress on many fronts at Trafford Open medal meeting!

Rhys, Harvey, Ella & Jonah competed at yesterday's Open meeting at Trafford across a multitude of events including 75m, 150m, 600m, 800m, 1500m, Long Jump & Discus.

We are a Run, Jump & Throw group (multi-eventing) for all the long term benefits of doing so. I would therefor like to start by complementing and congratulating Jonah. The diversity of skills, energy systems ...... etc etc required to do Discus, Long Jump and 1500m is enormous. Jonah's commitment and understanding of the model we follow and his willingness to be coached and to do the "hard" things as opposed to the "easy" things (that don't hurt) is placing him in a really strong position for the future. The focus is not on medals & positions, but on long term development. A good example is that if medals and positions dictated his development then he would have been doing Javelin yesterday. His PB would have won the event. The three events he did were set by myself and with no issues at all, he went out there and executed all three to the best of his ability. Result: Incredibly well deserved UK rankings in Discus and the 1500m!

Congratulations Jonah from the whole group and the coaching group. Keep working hard at EVERYTHING!

Harvey came to the group as an excellent endurance runner, but I am delighted with his enthusiam for the Jumps, Throws and working on his speed! Result: An excellent Bronze in the Long Jump, a big PB in the 600m and working on his speed in the 150m! Well done Harvey!

Rhys produced a fine effort in the Long Jump to achieve a PB and a Silver medal and worked on his Speed in the 75m. Congratulations Rhys!

Ella gained more valuable experience in the 800m and I was really thrilled with her big PB in the long Jump - watch this space!

I have really enjoyed watching our young group of multi-eventers compete over the Bank Holiday Weekend. Sam competed in the Hurdles and achieved a PB in the High Jump, on Sunday, at the YDL in Crewe. His preparation for an Octathlon is going really well.
