Youth Development League LAG (U13/U14) - Match 4

Congratulations to Sam who competed for Stockport Harriers for the first time and did extremely well. He gained valuable points for the Club in the 200m and ran the 3rd leg of the 4 x 100m U15 Boys relay team, who won their race. Sam also took the opportunity to work on his speed by doing the 100m NS race. An excellent introduction to Club Competition and I am certain that Sam will contribute points, in many different events, in the future.

Harry won the Shot Put B competition and then came second in the U13 Boys Javelin A competition with an excellent throw into a very severe headwind. I am certain the throw would have been a massive PB under normal weather conditions. A lot more to come from this young man, I can assure you. Well done H! An excellent contribution to the team!

Ella has not been training and competing regularly recently, so I was glad to see her get an 800m run in on Saturday.

I am extremely pleased with what Lauren has achieved this season in terms of YDL selection. The events she has been selected for don't, CURRENTLY, suit her, but her understanding of how important power is, in all athletic events, has resulted in her working hard on speed, strength and technique across numerous events. 70m hurdles is far too short and fast for Lauren, at present, and yet she is selected as the A runner - outstanding! Lauren has certainly not got the physique of a Javelin thrower, at present, and yet she is selected as the A thrower and finishes 4th by throwing an excellent PB into a very strong headwind - outstanding! Two events that she now has UK rankings in - outstanding! I won't say the word again, but she was then given the responsibility of the first leg in the 4 x 100m U13 girls relay team and it was exactly that again.

Even though it is not a level playing field for Lauren, at present, she is following her development plan brilliantly and is therefore making excellent progress - multi-activity, multi-event, PLT, consistently attending training, consistently competes, consistently doing her PLT "homework"...........etc etc I hope others, who are currently in a stronger position, take inspiration. I am certainly inspired and know that there is a lot more to come.
