5th Stockport Harriers Schools Cross Country 2014/15

There were a number of pleasing performances from members of our training group. In the Yr 3/4 girls race there were signs that Grace(10th) was getting back to her best, after a period of illness and Libby(18th) put in a good run, considering she was feeling a little under the weather. Grace is in overall 7th position and Libby in 14th. These are excellent results for multi-eventers who are still relatively inexperienced and are learning lots every time they run. I am also very pleased with Poppy who has now settled and is working well on developing her endurance. She is currently in 26th place overall.

William (8th) is having a cracking season and ran another really positive race whilst Daniel(13th) continues to make tremendous progress. This was only his third race in this event, with his previous two positions being 32nd and 23rd. Watch this Space! Davey(39th) tried a tactic that didn't really allow him to perform at his best, with his limited training time and Louis did his very best, considering he didn't feel right after his warm up and so he was quite rightly conservative in his approach to the race. Well done to the Yr3/4 boys!

In the year 5/6 girls race it was great to see Sofia(6th) coming back to her best after numerous setbacks over the winter. This time it was Ella(13th) who was not feeling at her best. Even though it was far from what Ella can achieve on a good day, she still improved her overall position. She is currently in joint 5th with one race to go. A tremendous achievement and one well deserved. Millie(35th) ran a much more positive race to equal her best finishing position to date.

Finally, Jonah(6th) certainly did the group proud, by really going for it from the outset. At one point in time he even led the race! As a year 5 this showed great positivity and ambition and I am sure this will be a tactic that he will use again next season. I was very pleased that Frank(25th) who usually plays football on a Saturday came and worked on his endurance and proudly represented Kettleshulme school. He ran a very good race considering he hasn't done it for a while.

Really looking forward to the last race in this years series on the 28th February.
