6th Stockport Harrier Primary Schools Cross Country 2013/14

Congratulations to all members of our training group who have represented their schools so well in this years competition. I am very pleased that through our group, children from schools who haven't previously taken part, have done so this year. Hopefully, it will encourage others from those schools to join in with what I am sure you will agree is a well organised, fun and healthy activity organised by our club, Stockport Harriers. Three special mentions: Libby (40th) has only just joined the group and yet she has, straight away, got involved in competition with a really positive attitude to it, lovely to see from a year 3; Ella (17th/overall 17th) & Lauren (11th/overall 11th) picked up really well deserved medals for competing in all 6 races, a fine achievement considering the extremely tough weather conditions this year and finally, I am sure everyone in the group, will be very Proud of Sofia (4th/overall 3rd) who very deservedly picked up the individual Bronze medal in the Year 3/4 Girls competition.

The year 3/4 girls race also saw Poppy (30th) put in another solid effort despite a tumble mid-race. This young lady is beginning to show real resilience, which is so great to witness, in one so young. Grace B (43rd) seems to be finding the event easier and is accepting that it is part of her overall training plan. Hannah J (overall 11th) didn't race in this final event, but had an excellent first Cross Country season as a year 3. Grace T (13th/overall 20th), again as a year 3, has gone from strength to strength. In her first race back in October she came 32nd!

Tom (42nd/overall 36th) has shown excellent attitude in his first Cross Country season as a year 3, giving every race his best shot and enjoying the whole occasion. William B (17th/overall 17th) is another year 3 who demonstrates an excellent attitude to competition, doing everything with a smile on his face. Technically there is a lot more to come from both these young athletes.

In the year 5/6 girls race Millie (18th) put in a solid effort in only her third Cross Country this season and is technically making some good advances. Cara (37th overall) was away and missed the last race but has been committed to developing her endurance throughout the season.

Harry (12th overall) missed the Year 5/6 Boys race through injury, but has had a very consistent season. Ben (21st overall) also missed the last race but has had a good first Cross Country season. William B (36th /overall 47th) achieved his best position this season, which was well deserved. Mathew (29th/overall 40th) has made steady progress over the season and is pushing himself harder, resulting in improved positions recently. William C (12th/11th overall) doesn't realise how well he has done as a multi-eventer in his first, full Cross Country season. It was nice to see him compete with a smile on his face.
