4th Manchester Harriers Primary Schools Cross Country 2013/14

There were some excellent results achieved by our group of athletes who were representing their schools proudly at this superb event. The conditions were incredibly boggy, with the spectators struggling to get around, let alone the athletes who were trying to be competitive! In such conditions, Sofia put in another tremendous top 5 finish, once again being very positive from the outset. As a year 3 running against year 4s, Grace T is progressing really nicely finishing 13 places better than her previous best on this course in 20th place and despite the conditions nearly getting a PB!

In the Year 3 & 4 Boys race, Daniel achieved his best finish by coming 11th. His running technique and pacing is getting better all the time and through training he is learning and building confidence in how to handle such events. Daniel is going to go from strength to strength.

There was a very good first run for Lauren in this competition, especially considering that she ended up in the mud at the very start of the race and had to catch up the lost ground. Not an easy thing to do in such heavy conditions. Coming 9th is therefore an excellent result. I am also very pleased with the progress being made by Ella. As a year 5 running against, a very high standard year 6 group, she is doing very well and achieved her best position at the event coming 11th.

Finally, Harry did very well on his comeback run having been unwell for a while. His 7th place finish was a typically gutsy and mature run, knowing full well that he was probably not at his best.

Well done to all the children for achieving some excellent results.
