4th Stockport Harriers Schools Cross Country 2013/14

Thirteen children from our group represented their schools on Saturday. The weather and running conditions were absolutely fabulous for a run in the park and I am so glad that so many of our group turned up to take part in this fabulous event.

For one of our athletes, it was their first ever Cross Country, so congratulations to Poppy on an excellent achievement.

In the wonderful conditions and with training progressing nicely, there were a total of 10 PBs achieved by Grace T, Isabelle, Frank, William B, Cara, Ella, Harry, Isaac, Mathew and William B. Well done to all of you. Really well deserved.

Best positions for this season were also achieved by William B, Mathew, Isaac, Ella, Cara and Isabelle. There was a top 10 finish achieved by Harry and 3 top 20 positions achieved by Lauren, Ella and Frank.

Running a cross country is an achievement in itself, as unfortunately so many do not want to do this excellent exercise or don't want to push themselves hard to achieve athletic progress both physically and mentally. I am therefor proud of all the runners, who have achieved so much on a beautiful Saturday morning in the Park.

Finally, as I usually do, I would like to highlight what, in my opinion, are a couple of stand out performances. Mathew's 13.13 mins, knocked 47 seconds off his previous best time of this year and his 29th position was his best position to date in these Cross countries, which he has now consistently committed to, for three years. Congratulations Mathew, you are beginning to reap the rewards of your efforts and your long term commitment to good exercise. Ella's PB of 12.4 mins, knocked 1.02 mins off her previous best and also resulted in her first top 20 finish in 17th place. Ella has only just started training with the group and this initial progress is very impressive and encouraging. There is still lots more to come. Well done Ella!

The full results are attached below.

The next Cross Country in this series, is now in January. For those children in year 6 who want a taste of the Club Cross country league, please let me know, as there is one this Saturday in St Helens.
