2nd Manchester Harrier Primary Schools Cross Country 2013/14

Well done to Ella and Grace for completing their first Manchester Harriers Cross Country. It is so early on in their training and their experience of Cross Countries and I am already seeing some excellent potential, as both girls are prepared to put in so much effort into what they are doing. Really pleased with you both. Sam gained more experience in the year 3/4 boys which will serve him well for the rest of the season and especially next year when he will be in the older group. Well done young man! It was great to see Charlie out there again working on his fitness.

There were two really gutsy performances for two very different reasons. Firstly, I was so impressed with Sofia's approach to her race. She was positive from the outset and tried to lead her race from start to finish, which is a very difficult thing to do, finally finishing an excellent 3rd. Well done Fi for giving it, once again, your absolute all!

The morning's achievements were capped by a really good top 10 finish for Harry. It was really gutsy because he was able to keep tabs on the leaders and was only 150m behind the Winner and because he ran the last 500m with one shoe. In a final kick, with only one shoe, he actually even gained a place! I know our speed work is working well for the group, but this was really quite impressive! What fabulous resolve and determination by a young man who was achieving his best race to date from a technical and tactical perspective. Really well deserved Harry, your consistent training and attention to technique is begining to pay dividends in a variety of events.

Finally, thank you to the parents who helped marshall the event this morning. I know certain parents will be very envious of our very fetching yellow "outfits"!

Well done Group !
