5th Schools Cross Country 2012/13

A small, but committed, number of athletes from our training group, took part in the 5th Schools Cross Country on Saturday 9th February at Woodbank Park. The Course was different to the normal one and the underfoot conditions were very heavy. A real "baptism of mud" for Cara, who trained with us for the first time on Thursday and was willing to have a go at her very first Cross Country on Saturday ! Great attitude and I am sure Cara will have learnt a great deal from the experience.

Mathew & Will looked to be enjoying themselves out there and Lauren and Dominic showed really good determination, considering they were both unwell in the week leading up to the event. Lauren was particularly impressive in terms of the tactics she used for the race.

The only outcome, that I would like to mention, is Isaac's 28th position. His best finishing position this Cross Country Season. Here's the really positive thing about it, he said after the race "I found it quite easy". Well done Isaac !

Congratulations to all the children who got involved. Through participating in such events, we develop numerous athletic requirements - most obviously endurance. A fitness component required for all the various events that we train and compete in!
